Our Beliefs

What We Believe

As an interdenominational community of believers in Jesus Christ, our traditions are rich with the history of the congregations represented.  Due to the overwhelming love of God, we believe that God created, called, and sent us with a mission to redeem a lost and broken world.

God chose to reveal himself in the Scriptures, our sole standard for living, and this salvation history informs and reforms us in the revelation of how God acts.  Into a perfectly created world, God allowed sin to enter and from then on, every human has been born with sinful desires that lead to separation from God.

God loves the world so much that he sent his son, Jesus into the world as a human. Jesus gave his life to pay the price for sins he didn't commit. In accepting the punishment for our sins, we are freed to come to God in faith and claim our inheritance in living in the spirit daily.

Following Jesus death, resurrection and ascension to the Father, he has defeated the power of death and evil. Today he lives eternally in heaven with God the Father. One day he will come back to earth to put an end to evil-sin, death, and pain by renewing all things. He will gather all who have believed in him from every place and time, to live with him forever.

Our faith is centered in God's love for us lived out in the life, death and resurrection of his son, Jesus Christ.

We believe that as we accept the grace of God, the Spirit working within us, and commit our lives to following him, that God sees us as perfect, the way we were first created to be.

Our View of the Christian Faith:

We honor the Word of God as the final authority in our lives.

We believe that God is three in one--God the Father, God the son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe we are saved by grace alone through faith.

We celebrate two sacraments: baptism and the Lord's Supper. These are God's promises to us.

We have a guide to understand our faith and shape its practices by claiming the Apostle's Creed.

We believe in the unity of the church, embracing its diversity, savoring its rich history, and celebrating God's love for his creation.

Our Mission

The Chapel In The Cove is a fellowship formed as a congregation, called by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit to be the very presence of Jesus Christ in the world.

Our shared task is to equip our members for ministry – every member in a hundred ways doing one thing – following Christ in missions, in a lost and broken world so loved by God.
